BOARB OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES <br /> REGUIAR MONTHLY HLY Ne T T <br /> TUESDA ,MAY 119,2004 <br /> MASIEWEE LIBRARY <br /> P sent: Ann MacDonald-Dailey,David Burton(arrived 6:45 p.m.),Heather Lakatos,Dianna Smith.,Nancy Stafford, <br /> and Helene Deli oe,Library Director. <br /> Absent: .Alice Rauppius, Carlo D' ste, <br /> Public Attendee: Nancy Soderberg. Bonnie Barrett,Chairman,Library Building Committee <br /> quorum being present,Ann MacDonald-Dailey called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. She advised that David <br /> Burton was giving blood at the blood tank and would arrive later. <br /> Welcome to Newtv Elected Trustee <br /> Ann introduced newly elected Trustee Nancy Stafford and welcomed her to the Board. Nancy gave a brief rundown <br /> of her background,which includes many years of experience in Literary sciences. Nancy also mentioned that to <br /> prepare she attended a Trustee Symposium in March. She expressed that she is happy to be here and brings her talents <br /> and interest to the Board. <br /> roval of.Minutes <br /> Dianna motioned to accept the Minutes of the Meeting held February 17,2004 as presented;Ann seconded the notion <br /> and it was unanimously passed,except Heather abstained. <br /> Feather motioned to accept the Minutes of the Meeting held April 27,2004;Dianna seconded the motion;and it was <br /> unanimously passed. <br /> Director's Wood <br /> Helene distributed copies of her monthly report--copy of which is attached to printed set of these minutes. Each <br /> paragraph in the attached report was discussed at length.. In addition,Helene informed the'Trustees that: <br /> 0 Selectmen Candidate Dyers and his wife requested a tour of the Library,which Helene conducted. <br /> Toni O'Neil of the Building Committee had an idea to have a"Library Symposium"'. He invited <br /> participants and Helene gage the four of them a tour on Saturday. <br /> For Thursday's Building Committee meeting Bonnie needs an idea of how much"temporary"'rary}'sp .ce the <br /> Library will need when new Library building being constructed. Helene contacted other libraries and seems <br /> 30%ofthe collection would be in ballpark;rest should be in storage. At that time we'd have to borrow from <br /> other CLANS libraries, so we'd keep what is unique to Mashpee Library. Vicki would be willing to help <br /> with audio collection;Helene will discuss with her. <br /> 0 Library's tong-range plan runs out in.Tune and must be on file with Mass Board of Libre Commissioner <br /> j <br /> by October 1. <br /> a Sheldon and Bonnie going to workshop on May 25 in Wrentham for the grant. <br /> i <br /> Helene then distributed Janet Burke's monthly report,which was discussed. Ketene advised that she was happy to <br /> report passes have been obtained for Cape Cod Children's Museum,which is a very popular program <br /> Nev Business <br /> 0 Ann informed the Trustees that she attended Candidates night and very positive comments were made <br /> regarding the Library. <br /> • Ann announced that David has received the Nashpee Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Service Award. <br /> A dinner honoring David will be held Tuesday might,May 18, at Ballymeade. <br /> Ann noted there will be an Auction on Saturday,,July 24,to benefit Friends of the Library. The sponsors are <br /> looking for donations, If anyone has ideas please let there know. Copy of the particulars is attached to <br /> printed set of these minutes. <br /> Ann infor-nned the Trustees that 2 people are basically carrying the load of Friends of the Library. They need <br /> help, so Ann risked the Trustees to think about people who might have time to volunteer. <br />
