David Burton, C rl ]'Este,Heather Lak ,Nancy Soderberg,Dianna Smith,,bane Dolan,and <br /> Ann MacDonald-Dailey(via,conference call from Florida). <br /> Absent: Helene DeFoe, Library Director <br /> Also Present: Sheldon Gil eft <br /> Bogie Barrett <br /> Nancy Stafford(arrived'x:20 p.m. <br /> Chairman David Burton called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. and welcomed newly-elected irary Trustee,, <br /> ane'Dolan. David also congratulated Ann MacDonald-Dailey on her re-election to the Board. <br /> Am al of Minutes <br /> i Dim Smith motioned to accept the minutes of the Special Meeting of April 19, 2007 as stn; Nancy <br /> Soderberg seconded this motion;and all Trustees approved the notion, except Jane Dolan, who abstained. <br /> lkeoorts <br /> David distributed copies of monthly reports for April that were provided by Helene and Janet Burke. These <br /> reports were reviewed by the Trustees and are attached to theprinted set of these minutes. <br /> David then mentioned the April 10, 2007 SBNLS letter with PY2006 Value of Summary for Ma hp a public <br /> Library attached. David has not yet discussed this with Helene and when she returns he will ask her to .moo over <br /> the contents with the Trustees at our next monthly meeting. A.copy of the letter and attached fora'are <br /> attached to the printed set of these minutes. <br /> Sheldon Gilbert <br /> David asked Shelly to please give the Trustees an update on the status of the library construction bill. During <br /> Shelly's update,the following-highlights were discussed-, <br /> Shelly pointed out that legislator's first responsibility is to get an operating budget approved. <br /> Library Construction Bill x#3420 is now being reviewed by the joint bonding capital and expenditures <br /> assets committee. <br /> Next step once Bill approved, is to go to the individual ways and means committee. <br /> On May 3 l t Helene will,he attending an MBLC meeting where they are going to give an update on the <br /> stags of the legislation and offer what actions and what recommendations individual library people <br /> ha a on how to proceed in support of this legislation. <br /> • Shelly said he is personally going to make specific recommendation that various people commit to <br /> getting the program approved and get legislators to pass the bill through quickly in view of the critical <br /> deadline Mashpee faces foTconstruction of the library. Shelly said if there are parts oft e bond hill <br /> not being.approved, he is recommending they let those parts stay and approve those parts they are <br /> favoring rather than holding all bond projects behind. <br />
