Project view Comments(Patience Jackson)
• Discussion took place relative the design size reduction from 21,943 sq ft to 20,800 sq ft. PJ indicated
that the size reduction was within the range of acceptability and that provided that the-plan worked
with capacity,ADA and code, she was OK with the reduction.
9 PJ reported that the program looks like it works per capita and is acceptable.
• She wants to see the story hour space to be more useful ding all working hours and not locked a
the time.
0 Look at how the story hour benches can be deadened so that kids do not use then as drums.
0 Try to create a.larger opening into the story lour area so that the adjoining spaces can become l
when the door is opened.Perhaps a barn door type door.
o The computers in the-children's room should not be in a travel path.
Shc wound l e to s6D the-admin' tr tion area for the chfl&cn7s room changed so the service desk has
visual connection to the main service desk. Can the children" ll+bmrian office be situated to have an
exterior window? The vvsurrounding the elevator made roam should be double or staggered
stud walls for sound deadening purposes.
PJ was candied about the Dont of the events room in the sense that the primary entrance doors
should not be in the front of the room where the speaker was. She was also concerned with security
and hiding places in and around the corridor feeding the events room from the main library.
PJ stressed that the location of the d pster and electrical t nsformer were critical. A relriew of the
proposed electric utility plan showed the electrical Uundormer behind the facility closest to Jobe"s
Fishing. It was agreed to locate the dumpster in the same lunation.PJ cautioned the group to make
sure that this did not get moved and she did not want the dumpster right outside of the directors
J
office,
PJ wants to see glass vision panels in all doors serving public spaces.
Dismission took place relative to the Friends storage. I hey will continne to use the exterior shed and
space on the second floor if necessary. The shed will need to be spruced up and located to rear of the
parking lot abutting Route l 1.-
Pommy Associates—Mashpee Library, 1130/08 N nutes Page I of 2
