SELECTMEN MEETING <br /> Januar 21, 1983 at 2 :00 pm. <br /> Meeting with Fields F i t Repress-en ti-ve and the. Library, - u,ildinc ,"Study <br /> Committee, <br /> PRESENT: hai-r'woman B . Jean Thomas , Selectman Chester A, Garland and Executive <br /> Secretary Joseph F. Murphy. <br /> CHESTS: Mr. Buff Chase, Mr, F. Eric1 . Joule Son, Anne E, Tannyhi l l, Gloria <br /> Selander, William W. Towner, Richard G. Shaughnessy and Janice R. <br /> Smith. <br /> h . Thomas had Mr. Shaughnessy introduce the members of the Library <br /> Building Study Co.inmittee, and turned the meeting over to him. <br /> Mr. Shaughnessy gave a synopsis of what has been happening regarding the <br /> building site for the new library. ' 'Mr. Sha.ughnessYstatd that there were three <br /> options offered by Fields Point, and they are all acceptable, and nice locations <br /> for the town. - e than proceeded to . discribe the properties <br /> 1. on sane side of shopping center on Route 151. <br /> 2 , ) In front of police station. <br /> 3 . ) In front of fire station. <br /> Mr. Shaughnessy also stated that the meetiiig of at month ago between Mr. <br /> Chase, Executive Secretary, and himself led to this meeting this afternoon. <br /> Chm. Thomas asked if Sel. Garland had any questions . <br /> Sl. Garland discussed the access roads to the site and said that <br /> he only had a few comments.. He feels that the curb cut on Route 151 should be <br /> investigated by someone knowledgeable so that they would not be so closely <br /> adjacent, and for safety. He also feels that if the curb cut is made where <br /> they are thinking of it-,will.-'be obs urred to the West bound traffic be asue <br /> of the ground le-vel. <br /> Mr. Buff Chase showed schetches- and said- he is willing to cooperate' in ever <br /> way with the Library Building Study Committee and the Town. <br /> Mr. Shaughnessy said that the structure would be at least 5 ,000 s quare <br /> feet. Therefore, they need at least one acre of land, <br /> Executive Secretary suggested that the Town Enginer, Mr, Charles Rowley, <br /> make the determination on the curb cuts . He also stated that he felt the <br /> Board of Selectmen .should rake a preference. <br /> Mr. Shaughnessy said that everyone is interested to do what is best for <br /> the town and the library. He said that if the Board had an overriding reason <br /> for selecting one of the other sites , they would look at that favorably. <br /> Board and Committee discussed what the next step should be. <br /> Executive Secretary suggested that the next step should be that the Board <br />
