BOARD of SELECTMEN MEETING <br /> March 9 , 1983 <br /> PRESENT: ' Chairwoman . Jean Thomas t Selectmen Chester A, Garland and will <br /> Hanson, Executive secretary Jo8eph F. Murphy and Town Counsel. <br /> Joseph J. Reardon arrived a little late . <br /> GUESTS: Mr. Edward Mitchell from the- Wigwam and Mr. Curtis Woodbury. <br /> 2 : 00 p.m. - Chairwoman Thomas convened the meeting.. <br /> Motion by Sel . Garland to approve theminutes' of the March -2 , 1988 <br /> Regular meeting. Seconded .by sel. Hanson , This is a vote . <br /> The Board discussed the letter from Mr. Mitchell, the owner of the Wigwam . <br /> regarding the hours that he should be open for' business , Mr. Mitchell stated <br /> that he is having problems with hi.s _ permits from the Board of Health. He asked <br /> the Selectmen -go along with his request to open April .1, 1983 fo r- ' s i x hours a <br /> day on Fridays , Saturdays and Sundays until May- 1, 1983 then he will be open <br /> six days a week. Sel. Hanson informed Mr. Kitchell that he would go along with <br /> his request for this gear. . He. is allowing Mr. Mitchell three weeks to satisfy <br /> the. Board of Health, Motion 'by Sel. Garland to permit Edward Mitchell , d/b/a <br /> Wigwam to remain closed until pri-1 1, 1983 at which time he will open -six hours <br /> a day on Fridays, Saturdays - and Sundays . Further beginning . May 2 , 1983 ho will <br /> be open six days a week. Seconded by sel . Hanson. -This is a unanimous vote . <br /> p.m.- Board held the Commonwealth Electric public hearing relative, t <br /> the three joint poles on Great Deck Road. Sel. Garland said that <br /> where there 'are no opponents or proponents he moves that the appli- <br /> cation be granted* Seconded by Sed. . Hanson. This is- a vote . <br /> The .Board reviewed Mr ,. - ogut' s -letter, the owner of the New Farm and his <br /> request to remain closed until April , 15 , 1983 and to start serving food on June <br /> 2r 1983. chm. Thomas explained that he holds a Common Vi ualer' s license which <br /> means that food is part o ,his license. - hm. Thomas also stated- that as long <br /> as Mr. Kogut mentions in his letter the repairs to the .parking lot he should <br /> be informed that the sign should be taken off town property and put on his own <br /> property, s' j. Hanson feels that_ he should not be allowed -any more tune than <br /> the Wigwam. Executive Secretary was directed to inform Mr. Kogut that the Board <br /> does not approve his request and that -he should be open for business on April <br /> 1, 1983 with the serving of food and that the sign be taken down' and installed <br /> on his property. <br /> 2 : 15 p.m. Board had an -informal interview- with Jane-Holly Weintraub regarding <br /> the Senior citizens Director position. Chm, Thomas informed Mrs . <br /> Weintraub that she was one of the two finalists for the job. chm. <br /> Thomas asked Mrs . Weintraub to give the Board an idea of the func- . <br /> tions of a coordinator in the community. Mrs . Weintraub said that <br /> as director she would try 'to get along with everyone and create <br /> activities so that everyone would participate . First she wants <br /> to - find out what is going on at the center and what do the people - <br /> want, <br /> eople -want. Chin. Thomas explained that her job as director would core <br /> under the Council on Aging. chm. Thomas also told Mrs , - Weintraub <br /> that this is really a community center. Mrs . Weintraub asked a out - <br /> a nutrition program. she was informed that 'there is one downstairs <br /> at the center. Sed. .' Garland said that it is- more than a community <br /> center everyone uses it. h * - Thomas also informed Mrs . Weintraub <br /> that it - is an outreach post for people who have needs '.. <br />
