Hanlon gave a l i t tl a background of the project stating that <br /> they started on the plan about nine months acro and that the <br /> schedule cali for a fifteen month project which they -would <br /> a <br /> be finished March or April of next yearil <br /> 1 <br /> He said that they completed the first phase which consisted <br /> evaluating existing conditions. The next phase which they are <br /> currently doing is looking at future corditions in 1a hp'ee and <br /> alternatives to soiving wastewater probi erns o <br /> y <br /> Referring to a displayed map of town, Mr . Manion stated that they <br /> have identified several problems in town based upon water quality <br /> data. Sodiumf iron , coliform bacteria and nitrates are probtems <br /> associated i h septic systems; The problem in Mashpee is that <br /> the septic systems perk too well . The soils are very permeable <br /> and ground water is very deep . They find that very few people in <br /> town have problems with their septic system. In the areas of high <br /> development such as: Sari t w i t Pond, John,"s Fon d q Popponesset, x <br /> Mashpee Neck there its s lot of intense deel oprent and a lot o <br /> ground water p obl ergs. <br /> In looking at the future development in town and the future <br /> conditions of ground water, Mrs Hanlon said that they used a <br /> formula developed by Cape Cod Planning and finds that the area <br /> around John'.s Ponds Santu i t Pond, Secon ett , Monomoscoy Island <br /> and Popponesset will have problems in the next twenty years. One <br /> alternative is building a conventional wastewater collection and <br /> treatment systems <br />
