Executive secretary, Joseph Murphy, was also present <br /> Chairman Hanson convened the meeting at 7 : 00 P. Me <br /> Select omwa Thomas moved that the minutes of the Special Meeting of <br /> November 2 , 1986, the minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 1, <br /> 1986, and the minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 31, 1986 <br /> be approved and accepted. Selectman Lawrence seconded the motion, <br /> The vote was unanimous . <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS : <br /> 1. New soabur ZPop onesset Roadways . With the intention <br /> to have this meeting in serve as a starting point for discussions specifi- <br /> cally with regard to necessary road repairs and maintenance or other <br /> solutions to the existing roadway network in the communities -.-- re-.!- <br /> i�ro.'sent-at.ive,s of the Peninsula Council, Inc. New r Sea.burCorp6ration, <br /> and the -PY6ppon6sset Beach Association, Inc . were present. At the t, <br /> suggestion of the- Chairman, r. Lawrence moderated this meeting, <br /> *,. <br /> Mr. Lawrence began this discussion by stating, "This <br /> meeting was prompted by a. letter from the Popponesset Beach Association <br /> requesting that the Town perform some emergency repairs on a section <br /> of Shore Drive from the Marketplace to the beginning of Sander Beach and <br /> if that could not be done , that the Town close the road, The first <br /> part of this request is out 6f the question, net that we wouldn' t like <br /> to do emergency repairs but the Town just does not have the money to <br /> do it. Closing the road would be difficult for the Town as it is a. <br /> private road. since the request came from the Pepponesset Beach <br /> Association and the owner of the stretch of road from the Marketplace <br /> to the beginning of sandy Beach is the New soabury Corporation., we <br /> have asked that we come together for discussion and hopefully, solutions , <br /> Considering the fact that there aro probably other read areas within <br /> that section of Town where other road problems may develop, we have <br /> included the Peninsula Council ire this discussion, <br /> 'The Town does not believe it has any responsibility in <br /> this area at all ; however, we do feel a responsibility to at least in- <br /> itiate some type of discussion between the various parties . The Board <br /> of Selectmen- is offering the assistance of this office in helping you ` <br /> to formulate any plans you right have" . <br /> Walter Carlson, President of the _Popponesset Beach Association <br /> stated, "I have hasome dialogue with l it Seabury Corporation. The <br /> roads in our area are pretty well maintained. ThisParticular area, has <br /> been a "sore spot" for at least the last year. We don't fix it because <br /> it doesn't belong t s ; but the road is in such disrepair that something <br />
