i <br /> RESUME OF SELECTMEN t s SING <br /> 1 <br /> AT : 19 May 1955 <br /> Meeting convened at "x:00 Ply. <br /> r. Wilson, Welfare Agent met `p it -oard. Various <br /> aspects of th e Welfare program were discussed. Mr. Wilson <br /> explained to the board the rear impossibility of declaring <br /> a mother with illiglti ate children, unfit, even though <br /> it may be apparent in many respects. He also explained the <br /> disadvantage of doing so, inasmuch as'- the care of dependent <br /> children state Wards is the complete responsibility of the <br /> Town, whereas ADC is shared by deral state and Town. <br /> The board was also infonned that a Warrant for the arrest <br /> of Bernard Coombs was in the hands of the state Police. <br /> Mr. Wilson -ill meet with the board on 30 June and with <br /> Miss Peters on the 9th of June. <br /> Mr. Mycock sat with bo and' to discuss Monooscoy Road. <br /> He was informed that the article would appear again in the <br /> May 10nd special Town' Meetingp and requested to support a <br />' favorable vote by letter recommending same. On 22 May, he <br /> will accompany Mr. Avant- acid Mro Aiken' to invesi ate road <br /> and other properties under discussion.. <br /> Mr. Mycock was requested to advise board of proper <br /> procedure in having Pells Homestead rem6ved. He will <br /> inform board of findings at latter date, <br /> Mr.' Mycock read letter received fom Atty. Nicbols <br /> (representing Arnold Chase in regard to marshland in South <br /> ashpe . r: Nichols wishes to purchase the land for the <br /> amount of42,000.00. , <br /> Miss Lucinda Hicks and Neota Davenport were named as <br /> ballot clerks for special Town Meeting. Horace Gifford will <br /> be on duty as police officer. <br /> During Mr. Sturgis t absence, v .cation .
