SELECTMEN' MINUTE <br /> 5 <br /> 1.0/107 9 <br /> SELECTMEN o' ONNELL, GARLAND AND BELTWAY PRESENT. TOWN COUNSEL <br /> PRESENT, <br /> 1. APPOINTMENTS: Middleton 'Mallev-Keyes appointed to Finance <br /> ommi ttee to fill unexpired term of Constance Courtemanche <br /> (5/80) . Garland motions, B nway seconds, O' Connell makes <br /> decision unanimous . <br /> . There was an extensive discussion ISE: the appointment of Karen <br /> Hale as an Alternate Member to the Personnel Board. Town Counsel <br /> stated that under section 20A of 266A it is specifically prohib- <br /> ited <br /> o ib- <br /> ited for a municipal employee to put themselves in a position <br /> f a conflict of interest. An elected official can be on the <br /> Boards , but an appointee cannot. <br /> 3. Mr. Ames , of Otis Trailer Park, is interested in running a taxi <br /> service i n the Town. There were no objections from the Board <br /> to issue a License as long as the proper forms were filled out <br /> and filed. Mr. Antes was warned by Selectman O'Connell that <br /> there had been two unsuccessful attempts already made in Mashpee <br /> for this service. Mr. Ames is to check with Town Counsel E; <br /> a metered system. <br /> 4. The Great Oak load bid was awarded to Lawrence & Lynch of <br /> Falmouth for the sum of $ 5 ,935 . 50, They are to contact the <br /> Highway Department to commence said work. <br /> 5. The newsm dia sought the sentiments of the Board RE: disclosure <br /> of finances for elected officials. The Board unanimouslN7 con- <br /> curred in opposition to such disclosures . <br /> . The question was raised about using the old fire station as a <br /> possible storage area for town equipment to stop the vandal- <br /> ising that hs occurred as of late, This matter will have t <br /> be checked with the Paul Peters Ins . Co. to ascertain whether <br /> or not the equipment would be covered by insurance as the building <br /> has been condemned by the State Inspectors . Town Counsel chid <br /> not feel that there would be coverage, Town Counsel suggested <br /> that the Board request the State to reinspect for storage and <br /> to modify the condemnation. T <br /> 7. Benway motioned to proclaim Saturday, October 13 , 1979 as <br /> Marguerite Bohdtto Day as she is the town' s oldest citizen, <br /> She will be loo years old on October 11, 1979 .
