MASHPEE AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMIVHTTEE Notes 10-14-04 Present: Zella Elizenberry, Louise Patrick, Deb'orah Battles, Eric Smith There was no quorum for the Committee. • New Business: • Housing Assistance Corporation presented a preliminary proposal for affordable apartments at the site of the Plaza del sol Motel on Rte. 130. There are 14-16 units being proposed. HAC wants to purchase and renovate the property. HAC is looking for a letter of support from the AHC. + Zella responded that that the proposal seems like a good idea, but as there was no quorum, the discussion will have to be taken up at the next meeting. • Steve Giatrelis and JW Miller presented their 40B plan for apartments at 508 Main Street. The property is 48 acres. They are proposing a subdivision with 2 commercial lots, and 10 industrial lots. The affordable component is apartments. There will be 5 buildings, with 24 units in each, for a total of 120 twits. The buildings will be phased in. all units are rentals, 25% will be affordable. • Draft Housing Plan • Eric suggested that the 1995 Comprehensive Plan be reviewed and any relevant suggestions be added to the current draft. • Zella asked if the AHC should prioritize recommendations. • Deb expressed concern about some inaccuracies describing Mashpee Village on page 10. • Eric suggested that sources be cited. • Deb asked about composition of the Community Preservation Committee • Suggestion was made that "village centers" on page 21 be identified • Eric suggested that the plan acknowledges the Affordable Housing Committee. • Eric will submit the comments from the meeting and get final draft in order to review and submit to selectmen after Nov meeting.
