4 <br /> BVW, which changed the perspective of the variance request. <br /> Mr. Harrington stated that they were looking for the variances and the approval <br /> to install a Micro-Fast Denitrification unit. <br /> Mr. Ball asked if that was all Mr. Harrington had to add into the motion. <br /> Mr. Doherty then stated that it was his intent to open up a can of worms. <br /> However, he wanted to talk about the leaching system being placed so close to <br /> the property line. Did the BOH members want to have the property line verified <br /> by a surveyor once it has been installed? His intent was to prevent any further <br /> future problems with the system being over the property line. <br /> Mr. Harrington suggested that a condition of the variance approval be <br /> established property corners and property lines prior to construction. <br /> Mr. Doherty suggest that the BOH do that as a matter of practice any time they <br /> are looking for a reduction in the setback particularly to the frontline. <br /> Mr. Ball then asked if the engineer had to reduce it to zero? Could he reduce it <br /> to 2'? The denitrification system would be working too. <br /> Mr. Doherty stated that he could allow himself 25' with the denitrification <br /> system. But, the BOH would still want to have maximum. They have always <br /> granted down to zero with sign on. He really doesn't have a problem with the <br /> variance request as long as they make sure it is in fact on the property. <br /> Mr. Ball would also like to make a note that the BOH is granting this variance <br /> down to zero because he is volunteering a denitrification system. If he wasn't <br /> volunteering a denitrification system the BOH would not be granting this <br /> variance down to zero. <br /> Mr. Doherty then stated that the BOH has it on the books that he can get it <br /> down as far as 75'. But, the BOH would like to see the maximum distance <br /> anyways. It is kind of a give and take. Mr. Doherty stated that he was sure if <br /> the engineer had another 5' he would go for it in order to avoid a denitrification <br /> system. But, it is apparent he couldn't even buy the 5'. He recommended that <br /> just as a matter of interim policy to make sure that it is on the property. <br /> Mr. Santos then asked if it was on town water. <br /> Ms. Warden then stated that it was on town water. There are wells out there. <br /> They are few and far between. However, every now and then you run in to one. <br /> Mr. Ball stated that it didn't matter anyway because the homeowner is going <br /> from five to four bedrooms. <br /> After further discussion among the BOH members regarding the well issue.
