Approval Steps for the new Senior Center. See Attachment 2.
Architects. Any and all recommendations for architects for the new Senior Center should be
referred to this Committee for follow-up.
Furnishings. Betty Nichols agreed to be responsible for spearheading the selection of
appropriate furnishings for the new Senior Center, most importantly tables and chairs. Design
and cost are major considerations, keeping in mind requirements for storage space for these
items. W.B. Mason, and Ethan Allen were two suggested sources for ideas. Betty will select a
date for a report on her findings.
Fund Raising/Grant Applications
The application for a grant application has been postponed until the Mashpee Town Grant writer
becomes available.
Art Weinstein was tasked, and agreed, to plan how to proceed with fund raising efforts. Art will
come up with a project plan by the next committee meeting date of 2127/02. Marty Henry was
tasked, and agreed, to research the legal requirements for the new building.
New Access Road
The current plan for a new access road to the Fire Station will need to be changed, with the
addition of the new Senior Center location. The existing traffic light will need to be relocated to
accommodate the new road. Iry Goldberg agreed to send a letter to Tom Fudala in the Planning
Department, to ask when the new traffic light will be installed and operational.
RFP Review Subcommittee
Due date for submission of the RFP's to the Committee is 02/21/02. A subcommittee made up of
Iry Goldberg, Jim Long, Art Weinstein and Wayne Taylor, along with the entire committee, will
meet after 2/21/02 to review the RFP's that have been submitted, and will select the top three
choices. These will be submitted to the Selectmen for their review and final selection for
negotiation. The Recording Secretary will notify the Committee members of the date of the
Selectmen's RFP meeting.
The next scheduled meeting of the Senior Center Building Committee will be on Wednesday,
Feb. 27th, at 1:30 PM. The meeting will take place at the Mashpee Town Hall in Conference
Room 2.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Ina G. Schlobohm
Recording Secretary
attachments
