AI I� TOWN OF MASHPEE SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE GRAND OPENING PLANNING MEETING December 6, 2004 Committee Attendees: Also Present: Irving Goldberg, Chairman Bud Abbott, FMSC Ed Adams Jim Long, Director, COA Jean Noussee Jack Dorsey, Mashpee Men's Club Russ Maloney, Mashpee Men's Club Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 2:10 PM. DATE Irving Goldberg announced that the date for the Grand Opening had been changed to accommodate the schedule of Selectman Wayne Taylor. The new date selected was Friday, January 28"', 2005, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Iry stated that the apparentcompletion of the new Center is Friday, Dec. 10"'. The one exception to the building completion is the sewage hookup with Mashpee Commons. Until the sewage system is in working order, noone can enter the building unattended. If the furniture is delivered before the septic system is in working order, guards will be required to prevent any water usage. INVITATIONS -PRINTING Mashpee High School printing shop has agreed to print up the invitations free of charge. Paper stock will be supplied by the FMSC. Iry is recommending that we go with heavy stock blue paper, with gold printing (Town of Mashpee colors). Bud Abbott agreed to send electronically a multicolored picture of the new Center to the High School print shop, to be used on the cover of the invitation. After discussion, it was agreed by the committee to use the term "The New Mashpee Senior Center"on the inside of the invitation. The program for the afternoon will also appear inside. No RSVP will be requested. The back of the invitation will include Mashpee High School credits listed-for the print job. HANDOUTS Iry Goldberg talked with the highschool printshop supervisor about printing up a calendar to be used as a handout at the Open House. The supervisor suggested that a flipover calendar be prepared, depicting a scene for each month from the scenes on the Mashpee Senior Center coverlet. Five additional photos would be needed to complete the 12 months. Roche Brothers Store and the Mashpee High School were suggested as possible additional photos. It was agreed that 400 copies would be sufficient. The print shop will have a draft ready for the committee's review by next week. INVITATIONS—MAILING Invitations will be mailed out by the Town of Mashpee, by January 7"', 3 weeks in advance of the event. All donors over$500 will be included on the invitation list, including service in kind. Included on the list are the following: individival Friends of COA, the Women"s and Men's Clubs officers, Cape COA Directors (17), Boys and Girls Club Director, Town Dept. heads, Mashpee Commons, the Contractor, the Clerk of the Works, JCA, Tavares, FMSC, and the Quilting Class. Although invitations are being issued to a select group, the event is open to the public. 1
