TOWN OF MASHPEE SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE GRAND OPENING PLANNING MEETING Monday, January 10, 2005 Sub-Committee Attendees: Irving Goldberg Bonnie Oehme Marilyn Land Ed Adams Russ Maloney Art Weinstein Bud Abbott Jean Noussee Jack Dorsey Joyce Connors Jim Long Jean Clair Marjorie Allen Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 3:10 PM. Minutes from the planning meeting of December 22, 2004 were quickly reviewed, as follows: Grand Opening Date. January 28, 2005, rain or shine. Invitations. The invitations, designed and printed by the Mashpee High School Graphic Arts class, were mailed out the first week of January. The class is also designing a 2005 calendar to be used as handouts at the Grand Opening, and will feature photos of local Mashpee scenes. Refreshments. Roche Brothers has agreed to donate the entire catering service for the event, and will plan for between 200 to 400 persons. Jean Noussee and her subcommittee will meet with Clare at the Catering Desk at Roche Brothers to plan the menu, and coordinate all details related to the refreshments, i.e., paper goods, table cloths, etc. If needed, the Men's Club will donate white paper tablecloth rolls. Music. FMSC has donated a piano to the new Senior Center. Maxine Wolfset will provide background piano music during the reception. Advertising., Jim Long will contact the local newspapers to cover the event. Tour Guides/Security. The Mashpee Men's Club will provide volunteers to act as tour guides, as well as security during the event. Extra parking, if needed, will be available at the Boys& Girls Club parking area. A Men's Club security volunteer will be posted in each room to be included in the tours. Harold Klegman is coordinating this effort. Decorations. The FMSC will cover the cost of floral arrangements for the reception. Setup-Cleanup. The Men's Club will provide volunteers to set up the tables, and tear down after the reception. Bonnie Oehme will coordinate kitchen arrangements and the handling of trash removal at the conclusion. 16tng Goldberg stated that the current plan is to move into the new building the week of January _ Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 1 PM at the entrance to the new Center. Wayne Taylor will do the actual ribbon-cutting, with Joyce Mason, Irving Goldberg, Jim Long, and the Governor and Lt. Governor, if they are present, taking part in the ceremony. Any other interested parties are welcome to assemble behind the five ribbon-cutting individuals for photo-ops.
