MINUTES OF THE MASHPEE PERSONNEL BOARD MEETING
MASHPEE TOWN HALL
• January 4, 1982
The meeting was called to order shortly after 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 4,
1982.
The following Personnel Board members were present: James F. Rich, Chairman,
Caroline Gilligan and Bob Sullivan. Karen Hale was also present.
The Personnel Board voted to recommend 6% increase in salary for fiscal year
1983 for all employees who fall under the P.A.P. with the exception of Temporary
Employees: Clerical Temporary Help and Temporary Highway laborers. The $3.90
rate shall remain the same by unanimous vote of the Board. The Secretary was
asked to send a letter to the appropriate employee's supervisor advising them of
the 6% recommended figure along with a copy to the Finance Committee.
Lifeguard salaries, Gate Attendants salaries, Matrons and Special Police Officers
and Call Firemen rates will be voted upon at the next meeting due to the fact that
the Board wanted to verify present salary rates. The Secretary was asked to check
with the Executive Secretary for any correspondence with regard to Matron and
Special Police Officer rates. It was suggested that Wendy Rubin, Director of Parks
and Recreation, be invited to the next Board's meeting to discuss her proposal on
rates for employees which come under her department.
• Discussion was also made about including a Secretarial Temporary Rate position
under the P.A.P.
Comparable Salary Study '
The Secretary was asked to call other towns on the Cape in order to do a survey of
salaries of various employees in their town.
Clerk to the Board of Health
In our last correspondence with the Board of Health, they notified the Personnel
Board that they would hire Thelma Watson on a thirty-lay trial period at the rate
of $3.90 per hour. The Personnel Board had notified them that the rate of pay for
a Senior Clerk should be $4.58 per hour and not what was advertised as the job is
not a Temporary position. The Board of Health replied that they would pay their
Senior Clerk the $3.90 for the first month and after that time they would increase
the rate to $4.58 per hour, the Senior Clerk rate.
Upon reviewing what had transpired to date, the Personnel Boark asked the Secretary
to send the Board of Health a memo stating that the part-time Senior Clerk's posi-
tion falls under the Clerical Union Contract. Therefore, Mrs. Watson should be
paid at the rate of Senior Clerk.
Interviews for Police Officer
On December 28, 1981, Chief Frye and Marilyn Farren conducted written exams for
• the Police Officer position. The following candidates were asked to cane in to
be interviewed by the Personnel Board at tonight's meeting: (Sergeant Cooper was
in attendance at this meeting.)
Terance O'Neil
Edward McGlinchey
Ralph Michniewicz
Richard Langley
Daniel Walsh
