ay Habilitation programs are designed to enhance the quality of life of participating • <br />individuals by offering leisure and recreational activities, community experiences and <br />daily life skill building and maintenance support. <br />This year programs have included: <br />■ Therapies — physical and occupational therapies are offered to initiate, restore or maintain <br />many levels of mobility and control, working toward greater independence for each individual. <br />The Day Habilitation program, in <br />partnership with United Hand & <br />Rehabilitation Services, continues <br />to offer quality occupational and <br />physical therapies to program <br />participants. <br />■ Nursing — our nursing staff oversees health care services <br />for each individual and offers support and training in <br />Wellness, Nutrition and Self-care. <br />■ Horticultural Therapy — we are growing fruits and <br />vegetables during the summer and early fall and preparing <br />seeds and compost throughout the winter and spring. <br />■ Cultural Awareness — a new culture and country is <br />introduced each month offering basic information, which is <br />followed by games, music, food and films of that culture. <br />■ Pet Therapy — a new animal is introduced each week for <br />all to learn about and enjoy. • <br />■ Current events — following news stories of the region, <br />the nation and the world. <br />■ Art Therapy classes offer opportunities for self-expres- <br />sion and pleasure. <br />Our staff works hard to create realistic and meaningful <br />objectives and goals for each individual served, and the <br />activities are designed to support these goals. <br />Visiting Battleship Cove in Fall River -- a <br />day of exploration and fitn! <br />Randy Lyons and Kristi Hill on a trip to Fenway <br />Park! A tour of the sky boxes was a highlight! <br />• <br />The Day Habilitation program is currently serving 50 individuals of varying ages and abilities. <br />...................................................... <br />
