LEISURE SERVICES ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING <br />August 31, 1999 <br />MASHPEE TOWN HALL - 6:30 PM <br />Present: Wayne Taylor Absent: Pat Antonellis Also Present: <br />Don McCuish Scott Chausse Gus Frederick <br />Terrie Cook <br />DUE TO LACK OF QUORUM, NO MEETING TOOK PLACE. <br />The following items were discussed: Gus discussed the need for new members for the <br />Advisory Council. Gus mentioned that he spoke with Jim Long and will speak with Bob <br />Whritenour. Gus discussed doing up a letter and posting it at the Senior Center. <br />Communications — Gus did not receive the Grant which would have been used towards <br />After-school and to support Oktoberfest and Daffodil Days. The money is made <br />available through license plates. We will try again in the fall. Applied for 21" Century <br />Grant for After-school funding for year 2000. <br />Old Business - Summer wrap up — Gus past out profit and lost sheet. Next year we would <br />like to start camp one week earlier and end one week earlier. One problem we had was <br />the loss of our staff at the end of season. <br />Terrie mentioned her concern about the cost of running the Youth Center. Gus mentioned <br />that the Boys and Girls Club will pick up the youth center age group. Don McCuish <br />mentioned that summer soccer was a great program. Gus mentioned the problems <br />resulting because of strict camp rules. <br />A brief discussion took place regarding the Skate Board Park. Gus past out a copy of the <br />fall flyer. Don McCuish would like to start coed volleyball earlier and do two nights. A <br />discussion regarding gym usage took place. <br />Oktoberfest - October 9' (Saturday). Plans are well underway. More rides for kids and <br />more activities for older kids. Gus is looking for help. Maybe getting donations of hot <br />dogs from Stop and Shop. Don McCuish, Wayne Taylor or Jane Taylor, and Terrie Cook <br />volunteered to help. <br />Terrie Cook mentioned that she would like to set up a meeting with Ira Brown to go over <br />some requests. Terrie Cook would like to have the desk at our high school office outside <br />the office. Mike Pietrowski will be on additional leave of absence.
