• MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 14, 1993
TOWN HALL
Present: Paul Griffin, Merry Sue Ahlgren, Bill Martiros, Joe
Polito, Steve Greelish, Bill Jones , Dr. Lincoln DeMoura, Greg
Taylor
Carl Franceschi , DRA, Gary Larson, DRA
Absent: Peter Dinizio, Janice Mills, Linda Murtha
Mr. Greelish called the meeting to order at 4: 18 p. m.
MINUTES
Ms . Ahlgren made a motion to accept the minutes of Sept 7th . Mr.
Griffin seconded the motion. All members were in favor.
OLD BUSINESS
Joe Polito prepared information on the architectural RFP for the
Committee' s review.
Mr. Martiros asked if the architects fee includes hiring of the
engineering of all the separate disciplines (heating system, air
conditioning etc. )? He has been told there are tremendous
• savings in hiring the architect to design the building only and
then hiring all the engineering separately.
Mr. Polito explained you have to integrate all those disciplines .
Coordination of the work is very important.
The information from Al Polsi that he is referring to related to
the construction phase of the project and was for projects in
California where regulations are very different.
Mr. Greelish explained he, Mr. Dinizio and Mr. Martiros meet
regarding a forum with the Taxpayers Association. The Taxpayers
Assoc. do not want to be the leader in setting up that forum;
they feel it is this Committee' s responsibility to step forward
and invite the community. The Committee discussed this further.
The community should have information before December town
meeting so they know what they are voting one.
There are two different purposes for the meetings: to discuss
work which has been done in choosing the site and to get input
from the community.
Mr. Franceschi stated this is a reasonable point to involve the
public. The selection matrix can be presented to show community
criteria the Committee is looking at and they may add some.
**The Committee continued this discussion later in the meeting .**
DISCUSSION WITH ARCHITECT
• Mr. Franceschi stated there are two areas to cover at this
meeting, a draft of the matrix and the criteria to date and some
1
I
