MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE JULY 12 ; 1994 - TOWN HALL Members Present : Merry Sue Ahlgren , Peter Dinizio, Janice Mills , Michael Pare, Paul Griffin , Joe Polito, Bill Martiros , Steve Greelish Also Present: Bob Fournier , Ian Aitchison , Tony Esteves , Shannon Scarlett, Tom Ren , Joel Sele , Bob Whritenour, Greg Taylor Absent : Joan Tavares OLD BUSINESS The Committee reviewed Chairman Dinizio ' s response to Bill Jones ' letter to the Selectmen . The Committee agreed it is best to stick with the current program and the Selectmen seem to agree . PROJECT MANAGER REPORT Contracts- SMMA contract was signed by the Selectmen and is in the hands of Town Counsel . Chartwell has received their signed contract. Subconsultants- the Selectmen have approved all the subconsultants ( at their July 11 meeting) and will forward correspondence confirming that. Peter explained the Selectmen approved all correspondence items from this Committee including appointing Paul Griffin as a full member of the Committee . Bob Whritenour said the memo' s were very helpful and thanked the Committee . The Selectmen also approved a subcommittee for land acquisition of Selectmen Costa, Paul Griffin , Peter Dinizio and Bob Whritenour . Selectmen Costa is out with back problems and Selectmen Vaccaro will fill in for him. Budget- Bob Fournier will present the results of the schematic design estimate later in the meeting . Design and Constructability Reviews - TAMS and Beacon have completed their reviews and will make a presentation later in the meeting . Value Management - SMMA held an informal in house session that Chartwell attended . They will hold a second session with their subconsultants on July 14 . Chartwell ' s value management session will be held July 18 through July 22 at SMMA' s office, each day from 9-5 . Paul Griffin suggested they video tape the session for those people who could not attend . Ian will try to have it taped . DESIGN REVIEW Shannon Scarlett from TAMS Consultants Inc . presented the design review . Because it was 15 pages long , she highlighted the key issues. TAMS reviewed the program, schedule, state funding requirements and all areas of the schematic design . Schedule : TAMS feels the schedule is extremely tight ! As schematic design encroaches on design development, what will happen? Can the construction document phase be shortened? The issue is not just SMMA ' s timeframe to do the work but the added time for reviews , Committee review and then incorporation back into the project for approval into the next phase . Consequences are that the drawings might suffer , especially coordination . Bidding and awarding of the contract does not seem like enough time . Can 1
