Presently, the Committee is <br /> not sure they can buy the entire system but you need a clock and bell . <br /> Merry Sue would like an analogue clock . <br /> Steve suggested the TV monitor is a big user of power and it would have to <br /> be left on all day. <br /> Merry Sue asked if there are any bulletin boards? <br /> Phil said there is 30 feet of marker board and a tack strip above it. <br /> Marker boards can be magnetized but they are more expensive. <br /> The only change the Committee would like to see is to flip the teachers <br /> computer work station to the other side . <br /> Merry Sue will talk to other teachers about its location . <br /> OUTSIDE <br /> Ed explained , the original watercolor of the school , the view was further <br /> down the road then the Committee wanted to be. The building becomes more <br /> complex and animated as you get closer. It becomes more interesting as you <br /> move down the road and the distant view is not totally bland. <br /> Merry Sue asked if you will see more detail with the bigger block , brick is <br /> more monochromatic? <br /> Ed said there is no question he likes brick better than block . Block does <br /> have more texture to it and you will see individual pieces with the block <br /> better than with brick. <br /> Phil said the key is contrast between block color and mortar color. <br /> Ed said the subtleties of color are great and options many. <br /> Mr. Jim McCue was present and he explained that he is a union brick layer. <br /> He asked what size block will be used? A 8" x 16" with a score, 4" veneer. <br /> Mr . McCue said he would much prefer to see brick. <br /> Ed said they are not doing this for aesthetics, it is for cost. <br /> Mr. McCue said he finds brick to be a far superior material . Will a <br /> sealant be used? <br /> Phil said they have been researching that and will probably use a <br /> waterproofing material which is mixed in with the concrete when the block <br /> is made. It chemically bonds to the block and doesn' t allow water <br /> migration into the product at all . <br /> Mr. McCue said he has worked with block and after a rain is holds moisture . <br /> Ed said no one is more sensitive to that issue than he is. They are <br /> researching it. They understand the moisture problem on the Cape and are <br /> sensitive to the issue. <br /> 6 <br />
