MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, DECEMBER 13, 1994 TOWN HALL Present: Peter Dinizio, Joe Polito, Janice Mills, Bill Martiros, Merry Sue Ahlgren , Paul Griffin , Steve Greelish Also Present: Ian Aitchison, Tom Wren, Ed Frenette, Phil Poinelli , Brian Lawlor, Bill Hauck , Dr. DeMoura, Greg Taylor, Mike Pietrowski Meeting convened at 4 : 08 p.m. COMMITTEE DISCUSSION Janice explained last week she, Dr. DeMoura, Phil Poinelli , Manny Tavares and Joe Polito met to go over the plans. Those plans were not up to date and Phil and Manny Tavares juggled around the music and art rooms . Joe and Janice told them not to make that change. She said the Committee needs to demand up to date plans and study them on a weekly basis. Things are happening the Committee does not know about. Paul said not all the plans are on CAD yet so it is a problem keeping them updated. Paul went to SMMA' s office last Tuesday and Phil has found a way to eliminate a corridor on the second floor, for a cost savings. They are critiquing the plans in an effort to save costs but they do not have permission to juggle things without getting specific permission from the Committee. Janice said they were not even aware of the changes Merry Sue and Ray had worked on. Paul said the Committee can bring that to the attention of SMMA - the Committee wants any changes to come to them before they are made. Peter said at last night's meeting the Selectmen did not support finding additional space for the Superintendent so he will be in Town Hall until the High School opens and then provisions will have to be made for his space in the High School . Paul suggested getting the principal on board first and he can begin programming and find a suitable location. Committee Discussion with Mr. John Brooks of Brooks/Flemming Technology Consultants. Paul asked him to give the Committee a history of his company and what they can do for the High School . Mr. Brooks explained they are engineering consultants based in Burbank, CA. There are 8 associates each with different specialties. Their clients are architects , schools, TV networks and motion picture studios. They do communication engineering consulting - audio, video control , data and telephone systems. He sees a "melding" of technologies. Synergy system is one type of system for integration . He has just worked on a high tech restaurant (owned by Steven Speilberg) that used it to control all high tech equipment in the restaurant. They are strictly consulting engineers. They recommend approaches to take and then engineer them, they work with the architects. They do not buy or 1
