Same accent color at the <br /> intersection of hallways, using different colors for different houses. <br /> They will definitely stay away from trendy color schemes. <br /> Kitchen - quarry tile for food service area, non slip for kitchen. Will <br /> use dark grout. The Committee liked the dark beige color. <br /> Bathrooms - ceramic tile, floors and wall , for staff bathrooms. <br /> Student- block walls with tile floors. <br /> Paul suggested epoxy finish for the floors, it will stand up better than <br /> tile in the long term. <br /> Dr. DeMoura said is must be seamless. <br /> The Committee would like to see epoxy samples. <br /> Classrooms - carpeting, comes in roll or tiles. Ray had a sample which <br /> goes with everything because there are so many colors in it. <br /> Bill asked why use carpet when so many schools are taking it out because of <br /> problems? <br /> Ray said it doesn't have to be carpet but it is very quiet, anti static and <br /> wears well . <br /> Dr. DeMoura spoke with the Superintendent in Amherst who is having major <br /> problems with carpet. They have begun replacing 80,000 sq feet with tile <br /> because of health concerns. <br /> With carpet, you can always see the seams. He thought the trend was to use <br /> more tile and less carpet. <br /> Paul said in his experience most schools are using carpet. <br /> Steve said technology of the carpet today is very different, the carpet <br /> does not support bacterial growth. <br /> Bill said there will be more chemical odors from carpet. <br /> Ray said there will be more chemical in the furniture and vinyl tile than <br /> carpet. <br /> Merry Sue said the Falmouth teachers did not like carpet, felt it was a <br /> health problem, especially chemicals from cleaning it. <br /> She thinks carpet is much quieter, especially when moving desks around and <br /> is easier on teachers who are on their feet all day. <br /> Science labs will be tile <br /> Peter asked the life cycle of the carpet? <br /> Paul said at least 10 years, probably more. <br /> Bill asked the cost difference between carpet and tile? <br /> Paul does not want to make the decision based on cost but instead on what <br /> is the right choice for that use. <br /> Doors to classrooms - Ray has a sample of a solid core wood door, <br /> light/natural color wood (American white beech) with a polyurethane plastic <br /> finish. <br /> Dr. DeMoura asked about the wall space in the lobby?
