r
r
stop that right away .
Peter explained that Dr. DeMoura asked the capital facilities committee for
a $30, 000 truck . They presently have a 25 year old one. He is going to
ask this Committee for it.
Paul said if there is enough money, the project should buy it at 42%
instead of the school department buying it at 100%.
Steve said if it is justified , the Committee should consider it.
Paul explained the fill issue. Now, based on the documents, the fill
belongs to the contractor , to be disposed of within the confines of the
town.
Steve is disappointed that slipped through the cracks.
Paul said the issue came down to the value of what the fill was worth . The
Town can negotiate with Stone when they look at what to do with it. It was
cheaper to let them deal with it than for the town to take it. They were
concerned at that time about being over budget.
Steve said he talked to the Committee last Fall about a problem with a
prior contractor and a fill issue.
Paul said we won' t have that problem this time because the fill belongs to
the contractor.
Steve explained last time, the top layer, woodland loom, was trucked off
site and sold and then purchased back at the end of the project and brought
back to the site.
Joel said in this case we are talking about sub grade, not top soil .
**** Fees for CCR.
Paul received a letter he has to talk to town counsel about.
NEXT MEETING: Will be scheduled for May 9th at 4: 00 p.m. If there is not
enough on the agenda for that meeting , it will be canceled and the next
meeting will be May 16th .
Merry Sue said they are going to begin interviewing principals and hope to
have them working by this summer.
A representative from Eastern returned and asked for copies of the WBE/MBE
participation submitted by Stone, from the date of the bid to present.
Paul told them they would have to get that from Bob Whritenour.
Eastern asked if the Committee will not award the contract until all the
documents are reviewed by the proper authority?
Paul said the Committee will ask the Selectmen to award the contract
subject to Town Counsel ' s review. Town Council will then prepare the
documents for signature and it will probably be signed within the next 5-7
days .
The meeting adjourned at 5 :45 p.m.
NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING: TUESDAY, MAY 9TH AT 4: 00 P. M.
Minutes submitted by Arden R . Cadrin
7
