The first progress meeting will be changed to Wednesday, May
24th.
Joel said the contractor has the building permit and is flagging
the site . They plan to start clearing next week.
Paul explained he talked with town counsel and there is still no
ruling from the Attorney General regarding the electrical
subcontractor, which is being contested. He asked town counsel
to talk with the AG' s office about picking up the pace because
every week that goes by creates a problem.
Tom Wren asked if the contractor should be at the meetings?
Paul said Chartwell and SMMA should coordinate and if there is a
reason to have them here , they should be told. If there is a
sensitive subject , the Committee could go into Executive Session.
F F & E
SMMA prepared a draft RFP for the next phase of technology
consulting . He sent a copy to Childs , CCR and Chartwell for
their comments . They will increase and define the scope a little
more based on the comments . He would like to get the
consultant ' s proposals in and have them on board by the end of
the month.
Tom distributed copies of Chartwell ' s comments to the Committee .
Peter asked if the consultant will assist in getting grants?
Paul thinks that is a great idea and should be part of their job,
to search out grant opportunities and pursue them.
Janice said #7 from Chartwell ' s comments should be stressed.
Someone has to be responsible , in writing .
Paul suggested #4 , training phase , should be expanded a little .
The consultant should provide a full operation manual , otherwise
the system will only be used to a partial capacity because people
cannot use it .
Merry Sue noted that the staff is not available to be trained.
Mike Pietrowski , the Librarian, Principal and Superintendent are
presently available .
Steve said there will have to be some level of system management ,
there has to be 1 person who is ultimately responsible .
Paul said the Committee expects the consultant to supervise the
training .
Steve said they should provide a staff development plan, a
roadmap. They may not actually do the training but will
recommend how it should be done .
Dr. DeMoura added that the consultant will develop a professional
development plan and each vendor of software has to support the
plan with a X number of hours on their particular software .
2
