figure came down to $18, 685 . The tasks included are: contract documents,
specifications, change to the base building drawings - coordination ,
bidding- printing, administration, tabulation , mailing, construction
administration.
Construction administration covers a 4 week period total of 50 hours for a
civil engineer.
Paul thinks that is excessive, the entire job is only 160 hours.
Joel explained the proposal is for site clearing and erosion control , they
will install part of the storm drainage system. You can ' t clear without
erosion control .
Paul thinks is it slightly but not excessively high. It will buy the
project 4-6 weeks. It may be the window needed if there is any work
stoppage or weather problems . It is a small amount of money compared to
paying overtime because the project is running late in the end. He feels
it is money well spent, it buys insurance.
Ian said the proposal seems on the high side. It is difficult to determine
what amount might have been included in the original contract for this
work.
Joel explained for the civil engineer they determined what would have been
needed under the basic services and subtracted that. They put a lot of
thought into this proposal .
** Paul made a motion to ask SMMA to proceed with the additional
package for clearing and grubbing , based on their proposal of
$18, 685 . 00. Merry Sue seconded the motion. All members were in
favor 6-0**
Steve said it should be in the contract that the contractor keep the
woodland loam on site - do not remove it. No topsoil is to be removed .
Next Week's Agenda:
Joel thinks Ed Frenette is prepared to bring in revised elevations. If
they are not, the Committee would like to know ASAP so they can cancel the
meeting .
Paul suggested discussing the open items on technology: library, training ,
schedule of hiring staff, grounds equipment. He would like to see a
schedule of what students will be in the building when . These issues have
to be discussed with the School Committee also. The Committee should
develop an action list.
LAND ACQUISITION
Paul said the title was transferred last week . Town Counsel said he felt
it was a very comprehensive appraisal . It will be hard to bring it to court
and claim it was a bad job.
Ian presented a cash flow schedule for construction .
Paul had reviewed it previously and made some comments. Ian will make
those revisions.
Ian said a letter was supposed to go to Town Counsel from SMMA regarding
CCR's fee?
Joel said it went out today.
9
