HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
TUESDAY, JUNE 11 , 1996
HIGH SCHOOL SITE
Members Present : Merry Sue Ahlgren, Janice Mills , Bill Martiros ,
Joe Polito, Paul Griffin, Peter Dinizio , Steve Greelish
Also Present: John Williams , Joel Seeley, Jim Byrne , Tom Wren,
Dr. Lincoln DeMoura, Mike Pietrowski , Bill Hauck
Meeting convened at 4 : 12 p.m.
MINUTES
** Merry Sue made a motion to accept the minutes of May
28th. Joe seconded the motion.
Tom Wren said that the discussion from that meeting regarding a
letter, prepared by Chartwell , regarding additional services
related to claims , was not in the minutes . That discussion was
tabled at the last meeting until Paul Griffin reviewed the letter
first.
Bill asked for clarification of the discussion regarding diesel .
Paul explained that the bobcat speced was to be diesel . He was
told nothing else in town is diesel and so therefore it would
make more sense for it to be gas.
Dr. DeMoura said the diesel engine is the better engine. Thee
have a contract with a service station that does provide diesel
fuel .
Paul said Greg Taylor was present for the discussion, he agreed
it should be changed to gas . This can be discussed further when
the bids come in. He really doesn' t care which it is.
Dr. DeMoura will look into it.
**All in favor of the minutes 7-0**
TECHNOLOGY
Paul explained the bids came in and only one vendor bid on the
bulk of the equipment . All others responded back with regrets;
why, he has no idea.
Janice said it might be because of the time frame in which we
need the equipment - which is very short .
Steve said without the ability to contact Mike Kirwin, he doesn' t
know.
Joel explained it was Mike Kirwin' s understanding that the review
and recommendation on the bids was to happen on June 25th. He
wrote 2 letters discussing his review of the bids which were sent
first to Joel and then Chartwell and distributed to Committee
members at the meeting.
Paul said Joel gave him (Paul ) the dates of when things would
happen. The technology committee met on June 7th, if held until
June 25th, the Selectmen would not be able to act on it until mid
July. It had to be reviewed by June 11 . No one ever said Mike
1
