** Joe made a motion to move forward with the cable testing and have HB
Communications do this work. Janice seconded the motion. All members were in
favor 6-0**
Janice asked if Paul could send Committee members a note next week informing them of the
results of the testing. Paul will do that.
Mike Kirwin presented a letter regarding the amplification work and price. CCR is
recommending this work to the Committee today.
Merry Sue asked the time frame? Mike Kirwin said they will have ti done by next week.
** Paul made a motion to appropriate $6,700 for video amplification and an amount not
to exceed$6,000 for cabling changes based on testing phases as outlined during
previous discussion. Merry Sue seconded the motion.
Paul: the wholesale price of the cable is about $3,000 plus the expense to run it. He doesn't want
this to wait until the next meeting.
Mike Pietrowski has concerns regarding the testing of the signaling. He cannot get the results of
the testing on the RF. He has not seen the documentation on the measurements, where did they
do the measurements from?
Mike Kirwin said he has not gotten anymore information than Mike Pietrowski has. He agrees
there is a deficiency in the documentation from the contractor but he has.no more leverage than
anyone else.
Janice said she would rather separate the RF motion form the testing motion.
Paul said the contract that goes out will be separate.
Jim said it will be 2 separate change orders for these two issues.
Janice said it is important not to mix the issues.
Mike Pietrowski asked what if, in the worst case, after amplification it still doesn't work and it
is the cable.
Mr. O'Connor said they will not take responsibility for the existing cable but he doesn't believe
there is a problem with the cable. HB Communications doesn't own the cable.
Peter asked if we are going to try to recoup this cost?
Paul said the amplification was not a design issue, they do not owe us that money. The cable
problem we will try to recoup because it is a problem with the installation of the cable.
Janice said Mike Pietrowski suggested a year ago that we need amplification.
Paul agreed but we would have had to buy it then. Instead, we are buying it now.
** Vote on motion: all members in favor 6-0**
Request from Joe Augenblick: he has found 6 other locations that need a hide a board for the
keyboards at a cost of$719.97
**Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen for approval and payment $719.97 for
6 hide a boards. Merry Sue seconded the motion. All members were in favor 6-0**
2
