■ Due to space constraints and other school issues,parents/guardians/visitors may not drop ■ in for lunch with students. There will be opportunities during the year for breakfast or ■ lunch due to school-wide functions or individual teacher/classroom created events. In the Library: ■ • Conduct business quietly. ■ • Handle all materials carefully with clean hands. • Find a safe place for borrowed materials so they will not be lost or damaged. ■ • Return materials on time. ■ • Lost or damaged books/materials will be replaced by the parent/guardian at cost. On the Playground: ■ • Varied activities and materials are available and can be used on the playground— clay, chalk,books, tricycles, helmets, hoops, sand toys, etc., for children seeking ■ alternative play. ■ • Shaded areas are available during play. • Be prepared for outdoor recess everyday when the temperature/wind chill is 20 ■ degrees or above. Below this temperature requires indoor recess. • Send your student dressed for the weather or field trip: coat, snow pants,hats, ■ boots, gloves, sunscreen(applied at home prior to coming to school). ■ • Sunscreen is encouraged and should be applied at home. • Use playground equipment and items from home safely and correctly. ■ • No hard bats or balls may be used. • Ask an adult for permission to leave the playground area. ■ • Stay within the area designated by the teacher. ■ • Rocks, sticks, sand and snow stay on the ground. • Contact sports/games that require safety equipment are not allowed • Line up quickly and quietly when signaled. Due to safety issues, parents/guardians/visitors may not drop by for recess with students. ■ There are specifically assigned school monitors whose responsibility it is to supervise the ■ children each day. In the Lavatories: ■ • Wash hands after using the facilities. • Use paper products and facilities correctly. ■ • Report any problems to an adult. ■ • You are responsible for your own privacy as well as that of others. On the Bus: ■ • Wait safely at the roadside. ■ • Carefully board the bus one student at a time. • Stay seated during the trip. ■ • Talk quietly. • Follow the bus driver's instructions at all times. ■ • Distraction is a safety problem for all riders. • Get off the bus at the appropriate stop.
