KENNETH C.COOMBS SCHOOL SCHOOL COUNCIL TUESDAY,APRIL 9,2013 3:00 P.M. -MAIN OFFICE CONFERENCE ROOM MEETING MINUTES Meeting called to order at 3:10 p.m. In attendance: Please refer to sign in sheet No Public Comment Minutes: Review and approval of March minutes Old Business: • Review of School Goal form. Discussion and suggestions of ways further to implement and meet this goal#4-Culture. The Veteran's group and Mashpee Fire Department will be invited to participate at the Flag Day presentation. New Business: • Elaine presented and reviewed the March Principal's report. Kindergarten registration began with 24 families registering today. Mr. Souza discussed the Step Up to K evening event and additional discussion was had regarding the upcoming end of year and transition programs and events. • April's calendar was reviewed and an update was given about the upcoming spring events. Elaine and Wendy shared PEP Grant information and answered questions regarding recess,the Play Works trainings and expectations and the recent changes related to recess monitor staffing. • Review of student/parent handbook. Updates will be made as discussed to page 56 and regarding PS and K work sampling assessment system. Any other changes may be sent to Elaine by May 1, 2013. Elaine shared the drop off procedure. There may be possible changes to this section in the handbook for next year. • Wendy presented an overview regarding the recent Math Night Event. Feedback has been positive.Suggestions were shared ways to inform parents of the format of math night a head of time and possibly working with PTO to offer a pizza night at the same time. • Stephanie Bergonzi and Elaine Pender discussed last night's PTO meeting, recent fundraiser and upcoming activities for the remainder of the year. Discussion and ideas were shared to try to increase parent involvement. Meeting adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
