SPECIAL EDUCATION PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (SEPAC) <br /> GOALS AND PURPOSE <br /> I. To provide representation of all parents/guardians of children eligible to be enrolled <br /> in the Special Education Program. <br /> 2. To serve as an advocate for all children with special needs. <br /> 3. To provide a medium for parents/guardians, professionals, and citizens to exchange <br /> information, ideas, and experiences. <br /> 4. To recruit volunteer services from parents/guardians and community resources to <br /> meet identified needs. <br /> 5. To provide input into planning programs for special needs children. <br /> 6. To foster a positive attitude toward the Special Education Programs within the <br /> community and the individual school district. <br /> 7. To inform and educate the public about Special Needs plans and programs. <br /> 8. To petition for or against legislation pertaining to children with special needs. <br /> 9. To promote the coordination of existing services for children with special needs <br /> among local, state and federal agencies. <br /> MEMBERSHIP <br /> 1. Any parent/guardian whose child is involved in the Special Education Program. <br /> 2. Any interested persons who subscribe to GOALS AND PURPOSES above. <br /> MEETINGS <br /> 1. Meetings will be held once a month or at least four(4)times during the school year. <br /> 2. All officers will be required to attend all meetings. <br /> 3. Decisions of the membership will be made by consensus. <br /> 4. Voting shall be by ballot. <br /> 45 <br />
