In situations where a vacation
must be taken when school is in session,we ask that the school principal be notified. Our
experience has shown that providing assignments to be done during a vacation is not productive.
Such school work undermines the quality of the vacation and is generally not a productive
educational exercise. For this reason, we do not require teachers to design any out of school
activities for students while on vacation. Students are held accountable to make up any school work
missed when they return.
TARDINESS
If a child is tardy, the parent/guardian or persons designated by them must bring the child to the
office to check in and the child will obtain a pass for class. The parent/guardian will submit or
send a dated, written note stating the reason for tardiness. A PK-2 student entering school after
8:25am is tardy. For PK afternoon session, a student entering after 12:15pm is tardy. If
tardy, a child cannot attain perfect attendance for the year.
EARLY DISMISSAL
Parentstguardians or persons designated by them are not to pick up children in the
classroom. They must report to the school office to sign the child out. Children will only be
dismissed from the office, not the classroom or other school grounds. Children will only be
dismissed to the designated person with a valid driver's license.
Parents/guardians or designated individuals picking up a child must come into the building. They
must sign the appropriate log in the office and office personnel will send for the child to come to
the office. No child may leave the building without dismissal from the office.
No child may be picked up curbside as an adult waits in a vehicle. Office personnel cannot
determine who is actually in the vehicle and who has taken the child. Therefore, the adult must
come into the building to ensure the safety of the child during dismissal.
13
