SECTION II
TRANSPORTATION
BUSSES
Busses will be equipped with video monitor surveillance cameras.
• Bus stops and routes are developed by the School Department in coordination with the bus
contractor. All students are to get on and off at their own designated bus stop.
• Students will not be permitted to change busses except on a permanent or emergency basis. A
written note outlining the nature of the emergency must be submitted to the main office or
school principal.
• The parent or adult designee of the kindergarten student must be present at the bus stop for
morning pickup and when the child is transported home in the afternoon.
• Busses will use the circle in front of the school to drop off and pick up students. No other
vehicles are admitted during posted times into the circle.
• IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO PASS A SCHOOL BUS THAT HAS A STOP SIGN
AND/OR FLASHING LIGHTS. POLICE TAKE NOTICE AND YOU MAY BE
TICKETED.
- • If you have bus concerns, please put them in writing to the building Principal so they may be
addressed by the Principal. If your concern is taken to the Transportation Task Force, you will
be notified of the date and time of the meeting by the Principal or the Principal's designee.
You may and are encouraged to attend the meeting.
• Drop off is in the main parking lot next to the property designated for drop off/pick-up and
temporary parking (on preschool side). PLEASE, THESE PARKING AREAS ARE NOT
FOR EXTENDED OR PERMANENT PARKING DURING THE SCHOOL DAY.
• Preschool parents/guardians must use the main parking lot next to the property also. Please do
not use the circle in front of the building for preschool drop off and pick up.
• Parking in the circle at the front of the building is allowed only between 9:30am and 1:30pm.
• Students will not be allowed to ride on a different bus for an afternoon play date.
• It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian/adult designee to escort the child(ren) to the
sidewalk.
• When dropping off, students cannot arrive prior to 8:15am. There is no supervision for
students prior to this time. Students arriving from 8:15am until school opens will remain
outdoors until permitted into the building by staff on duty. (On inclement weather days,
students will report to the cafeteria until class begins.)
STUDENT CONDUCT ON SCHOOL BUSSES
The School Committee and its staff share with students and parents/guardians the responsibility for
student safety during transportation to and from school. The authority for enforcing School
Committee requirements of student conduct on busses will rest with the Principal.
To ensure the safety of all students who ride busses, it may occasionally be necessary to revoke the
privilege of transportation from a student who abuses this privilege.
Parents/guardians of children whose behavior and misconduct on school busses endangers the health,
safety and welfare of other riders will be notified that their children face the loss of transportation
privileges in accordance with regulations approved by the School Committee.
24
