that are too high.
Paul said we can accept the bid and come to a mutual agreement
but we don't have a second bidder to go to .
CCR reminded the Committee these prices are the marked up cost,
representing HB' s labor and profit .
Paul asked about the two alternates , the portable recording
system and the second satellite dish? Does CCR recommend the
Committee accept them?
Mike Kirwin explained, to keep in line with the original budget ,
because of the upgrades he knew it would go over and with these
two items , significantly over.
Paul asked what the impact is to the system if we don't take the
alternates? .
Larry from CCR said there is no effect except that you don't have
the capabilities of the second satellite dish, you can only have
one satellite program at a time, which is no unrealistic.
Mike Pietrowski said there is already a dish at the Middle School
and the two schools are linked.
Larry said the second, portable editing system would allow more
students to get involved, can be used as training.
Paul said the Committee can consider it before finalizing the
contract.
Paul asked about the cost of maintenance for this program. Do we
get any maintenance from this vendor?
Larry said this contract buys 1 year of maintenance .
Paul asked about the cost after that?
He said there are several levels of maintenance you could ask
for. Routine cleaning can be done in house and use out of house
firms for just repairs .
Mike Kirwin said he spoke with HB and they assured him there is
no problem meeting the time table .
Peter asked if we have to coordinate with Stone and HB which
parts of the building are not ready to install?
Larry said a substantial amount of work occurs off site .
Paul said the first phase will go into the academic wing and the
second phase into the auditorium.
John Williams said the original estimate for this portion was
$694 , 000, so it is very close to the bid.
** Paul made a motion to recommend to the Selectmen they
enter into a final contract with HB Communications for
audio visual equipment in the amount of $704 , 680 . Merry
Sue seconded the motion. All members were in favor 6-0**
Mike Kirwin asked if he should initiate CYA cleansing?
Paul said yes, start now.
4
