Di : si;on-. of- -Marine Fisheries Shell - <br /> fish Propagation and Protection Reimbursement Funds (MGL 130 , Sect 20A) . <br /> I believe this information came from an article published in the Cape <br /> Cod Times newspaper . <br /> I wish to set the record straight in this matter . The town received a check <br /> for $5 , 511 . 70 during the month of iMay, 1989 . This was our share of the <br /> reimbursement funds . I was able to confirm this with Diane Rommelmeyer <br /> and Anne Shaw this morning . I would also like you to know that this <br /> process is a joint effort between the Town Clerks office , the Accounting <br /> office and myself . Each department is requested to provide information <br /> such as catch statistics , permit statistics , copies of current regulations <br /> and policies and documentation of monies expended in these matters for <br /> the relevant year . The information was filed in a coINlete form and in a <br /> timely mapner , as it will be this year, emen though the funding for this <br /> program has been cut off . <br /> I wish to make two comments in this matter . First , I believe that it is <br /> important to let any and all people who were , are or could be concerned <br /> with this information that we did apply for , and received the monies <br /> available to us . The taxpayers deserve to know that I would not pass up <br /> on an opportunity to obtain reimbursement funds or grant monies whenever <br /> possible . Secohd�I would very much appreciate hearing about these types of <br /> cancerns as soon as possible . I would not have blamed the Selectmen one <br /> bit if I had been "called on the carpet" an"d asked for an explanation . In <br /> this particular case the misinformation could have been immediately dis- <br /> counted , and not allowed to fester in someones feelinfs or,worse yet , been <br /> circulated around town as I have a feeling this might have been . <br />
