I
Mss Thomas continues +
waiting for a little attention. The workload increased, (
e , yes they
got some 7%, but, they were not recognized for tae job they were doing.
I' think it is very important for our Town employees who are the back-
boxre of this Town to support this evaluation of their jobs. I would
ask you to support this Article.
Mr Garland: I `would like to second NIrs Thomas' remarks and to say that
the clerical persons in this Town have been given additional duties
I think they are riCD
ght in that they have not been put into the right
Slott if you will. As a measure of good faith, when negotiating this
contract; we ,the Board of Selectmen and Attorney Gilman, agreed to
present and support this Article. I hope you will agree and support
our activities
Kr Lawrence (Peter) keen this came up a few minutes ago, why did not
the Selectmen make these statements and we would not have had to waste
the time on reconsideration. You did not present the, motion correctly.
And you did not back it correctly.Your explanation makes a lot of
sense. Why didn't you do this to begin with?
Mir Towner (William) I would like to know something about the qualifi-
cations of the man who is to do this job. Mhat are we looking for., in
a consultant?
Krs Thomas: We are going to get a super
g g o p person and with the permission
of the Moderator I would like Joe Murphy to speak on the subject.
Joseph Murphy: The Selectmen sought proposals from four firms.
Of these proposals the Board and if the money is funded , appropriated
rather, would award the contract to the Kassachusetts Municipal 21ssn.
That Association would have,as the principals involved, four individu
uals with extensive backgrounds in State and Personnel services. The
principal one involved would be Judith Robbins. She is more a Personnel
specialist. She has been involved in public administration for years.
Another, would be Brent Wilkes, director of field services.
He has been involved with the State department of Community Affairs.
Also James Pritchard who is a consultant for 20 years in this state
and in -`Jew Hampshire involved primarily in smaller communities. I
recommended this particular firm because of their methodology
and the staff that would be associated with them would be the best
available to the Town.
