Article Mr Shaunnessy continues: We turned over our findings to them an `
let them add or subtract.
i
The Committees' term expired on May 39 1982, our final report ha-- ,been
submitted to the Selectmen,he Planning Board and to the Town Clerk.
The present Library is 2000 sq. feet. 6250 is a reasonable size for
the year 2000. I would like to see 8000, most Towns are that size.
We have considered an addition or a new building near the Police and Fire
Complex. 469,000 tonadd to the -pre sent' 'building and 496,000 'to build
a new Library. There would be architectuai costs in addition. We re-
commend we take the additional architectual steps.
Mr O' Connell: I expected to support the Committee, unfortunately
the budget is to the bone. The over-ride `was soundly defeated by
the voters. This is not the only Committee that will 'be affected;
and I feel very strongly for this Committee did their work so well.
The Library will still be built; but because of State law, we can not
pay for it. t.
Mr Re : What we have is a stacked deck; we know the money is tight.
We do have to exercise priority all through the Warrant. We are the
first ones on the Warrant. How do we get `a chance to show where the
priorities are for this Library ? Can we bring it up later so it
can have its' fair shake ? i
'I
Mr O' Connell: If Mr Shaunnessy would like to table Articles 4-5-6-7,
they can be brought back from the table `at any time during this Town i
Meeting. There might be monies availabie. if Mr. -Shaunnessy would
table, I will second it.
Mr Towner: We sat through a Special Town 'Meeting and watched monies i
transferred from one account to another because budgets were not
I
_
figuredu properly and you can not find 14,000 dollars for this Com-
m ittee.
om-mittee.
Myron Silton: I can not see any reason. we can not come-up with the
14,000.00 bucks. Lets not wait to the encs of this thing to vote
the .14,000.00 bucks.
Joan Muse: I think the Committee should recommend where the monies
are to come from. This money is goingto -haveto come . from other 'r
budgets, how can they get a "fair- slake"when they have not been
heard? {
Shirley Peters: My feelings are the present Library is a Historical
Plot, what will the present Library be 'used for? This historical
Plot should be preserved.
Mr Shaunnessy' I am sere there will be many ca didates for use of
