The Board of Selectmen shall annually <br /> review and designate as appropriate <br /> private ways in the Town' for` consii era- <br /> tion for conversion to public ways. <br /> This review by the Board of Selectmen <br /> shall be concluded by March I of each <br /> year . The Director of the Department <br /> of Public Works shall-' assist the Board <br /> of Selectmen in the review and shall , <br /> make recommendations. <br /> b . The Board of Selectmen shall establish <br /> a priority list of private roads most <br /> in need of conversion to public roads <br /> after the completion of the annual <br /> review . <br /> C . The Board of Selectmen shall submit to <br /> the Annual Town Meeting or to any <br /> Special Town Meeting an article or art- <br /> icles seeking appropriation of funds <br /> and authorization to perform necessary <br /> engineering and legal work for the pur- <br /> pose of preparing an .article for subse- <br /> quent Tonin Meeting action to acquire the <br /> private road by eminent domain , purchase <br /> or gift . <br /> d. The Board of Selectmen shall , after re- <br /> ceiving Tov)n Meeting authorization to <br /> perform engineering and legal ltrork. , cause <br /> an article to be inserted in the Annual <br /> Town Meeting Warrant seeking permission <br /> to acquire the fee ov)nership , or .an <br /> easement in the private road, by exercise <br /> of eminent domain or by deed or gift , and <br /> shall request authority to assess better- <br /> ments pursuant to Chapter 80 of the Gen- <br /> eral Laws and any other applicable <br /> authority , to secure payment for the cost <br /> of the acquisition of the public owner- <br /> ship or easement and any improvements <br /> made to the road. <br /> accept as amended . .amended to read Section 4. 10.3 motion carries <br /> 8:47 <br />
