Any and all costs which would otherwise be paid out of the county dog fund shall not be paid by the county to any city or town which is not a member of the county dog fund, or to any city or town which accepts this section and such cities and towns shall thereupon be responsible for all costs and expenses relating to the regulation of dog. Currently the Town collects revenue from the sale of dog licenses and it turns over to the county. Under certain circumstances such as damage of livestock, emergency veterinary care, �and unclaimed dogs the Town is allowed to seek reimbursement from the county for costs associated with the above. The passage of this article and Article 64 would eliminate the county's participation in this process. In effect, the Town would retain dog license revenues and directly incur costs associated with the above. Article 64: To see if the Town will vote to amend the Town by-laws by adding thereto the following: Article 4.14 Regulation of Dogs Section 4.14 .1 Duties of Dog ,Owner or Keeper 1 . Who Must License The owner or keeper is responsible for obtaining the license for each dog three months old or older in his possession. He must also cause the dog to wear a collar or harness to which the dog tag has been attached. 2. Licensing Period The licensing period runs from January 1st through Decem- ber 31st. A license must be obtained as follows: a) As soon as a dog is obtained or becomes 3 months old, if obtained at a younger age b) On or before the expiration of 30 days following the arrival of the dog in town, if brought from another state or country -58-
