These requirements were based on the Governor's proposed allocations of
Chapter 70 in his proposed FY97 budget.
In many cases, your Cherry Sheet will reflect a level of Chapter 70 aid different from that
included in DOE's February notification. This change will result in a revision of net school spending
requirements and may result in the need for budgetary revisions by town meetings or city/town
councils. DOE plans to mail revised and final net school spending requirements to local officials
later this week.
The enclosed analysis details statewide changes in total Cherry Sheet receipts, Chapter 70
and Lottery. It also describes some of the issues that municipal and school officials should be aware '
of concerning the FY97 Cherry Sheets.
Division of Local Services staff are available to answer your questions or provide additional
information. You may call the Local Aid Section, Municipal Data Management and Technical
Assistance Bureau, Division of Local Services, at (617) 626 - 2377.
Very truly yours,
Mitchell Adams
Commissioner
MA:FK:ml
Enclosure
i',
