Labute
Town Clerk
16 Great Neck Road North
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
Dear Ms. Labute:
I return the amendments to the general by-laws adopted under articles 13 and 14 of the
warrant for the Mashpee fall annual town meeting that first convened on October 6, 1997, with
the enclosed approval of this Office. Ino doing, I assume that the term"emergency work",
which is not defined in article 13, is defined somewhere in the preexisting by-law that article
amends. Likewise, in addition to these two articles, you also submitted for our review articles
15, 16, 17 and 24. However,we must have the current enactments which each of those articles
amends in order to determine whether those amendments are in conflict with the laws or
constitution of the Commonwealth. G.L. c. 40, § 32. j
Once we have received the requested material we shall commense our review of those
articles.
Sinc ely,
Kathryn B. almer ,
Assistant Attorney General
Coordinator,Municipal Law Unit
(617) 727-2200 x 2085
Enc.
cc: Kopelman&Paige, 31 St. James Ave., Boston, MA 02116
