a , <br /> Article 21 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to establish the Mashpee <br /> Economic Development and Industrial Corporation in accordance with the following declaration: <br /> Where the need exists for an Economic Development and Industrial Corporation because <br /> unemployment or the threat thereof exists in the Town or that security against future <br /> unemployment and lack of business opportunity is required and that attracting new industry <br /> into the Town and substantially expanding existing industry through an economic development <br /> project or projects financed pursuant to Mass. General Laws Chapter 121C and implemented by <br /> such a corporation would alleviate the unemployment and lack of business opportunity <br /> problems, the Board of Selectmen is hereby authorized to establish the Mashpee Economic <br /> Development and Industrial Corporation, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen i <br /> Explanation: This article provides an opportunity for the Town of Mashpee to create a full <br /> time economic development program and to utilize other outside funding sources. The new <br /> program structure augments nominal local municipal funding with grants, loans, and private l <br /> contributions. Further, with the establishment of the nonprofit Mashpee EDIC, currently zoned <br /> industrial and commercial property which is unused, underused or underdeveloped can be t <br /> properly managed to produce a sound and environmentally sensitive economy. ; <br /> Motion to be made by John Cahalane. <br /> I move Article 21 be voted as printed in the warrant with the exception of the <br /> phrase,"or take any other action relating thereto". <br /> a <br /> A6 <br /> 30 <br />
