Article 3 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to create a Human Services Department, to be operated <br /> by the existing Human Services Coordinator, and to designate the Human Services <br /> Committee established pursuant to the vote under Article 29 of the May 6, 1996 <br /> Town Meeting to serve as an advisory committee to the Department, and be <br /> appointed by the Board of Selectmen, or take any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen <br /> f, <br /> Explanation: Two years ago the Human Services office was created and continues <br /> to be managed under the direction of the Board of Health. Our community continues <br /> to grow at an ever-increasing rate. Along with that growth comes an increase in f , <br /> human service needs. To better serve our community, a separate Human Services <br /> department is proposed. This department will continue to coordinate, review and t, <br /> monitor the activities of the 15 human service agencies which are under contract with ' <br /> the Town, as well as provide counseling services and collaboration with town ` <br /> departments, agencies, schools and community groups. <br /> {4i <br /> Recommendation: The Finance Committee recommends approval. <br /> I <br /> Motion to be made by John Cahalane.
