Explanation: This article re-writes Article 12 of the October 1, 2001 Town Meeting to allow
for the purchase of all property owned by the developers of the proposed "Cape Club"golf
course and/or within the boundary of the proposed development including a parcel not
contiguous to the original site. Additionally, the new article adds language that will allow for
the possible purchase of the entire proposed golf project in a joint venture with the Town of
Barnstable and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under terms and conditions to be
negotiated. Language in the original article unintentionally precluded acceptance of$3,200,000
of State funds and a cooperative management agreement with the Town of Barnstable that
may be necessary for the purchase of the entire parcel. The present article accommodates as
many scenarios as possible while continuing to allow for the possibility that Mashpee alone can
purchase any portion of the proposed project should it become available.
Article 6
To see if the Town will vote to rescind the authority to issue the following unissued balances of
authorized bonds or notes pursuant to the votes adopted under Article 12 of the October 12,
2001 Town Meeting for $3,200,000 for land acquisition to the extent not previously exercised,
or take any other action relating thereto.
Submitted by the Board of Selectmen
Explanation: This article is for the purpose of rescinding loans authorized for land acquisition.
r
1
March 4,2002
