General By-Laws <br /> Town of Mashpee <br /> CHAPTER 40 -- TOWN MEETINGS <br /> HISTORY: Adopted by the Town of Mashpee• Art I, as Ch 1, Art 1 1, of the 1980 Code; <br /> Art. II as Ch. 1 Art. 1.2 of the 1980 Code; Art. III as Ch. 2 Art. 2.13 Sec. 2.13.1 of the 1980 <br /> Code. Amendments noted where applicable. <br /> GENERAL REFERENCES " <br /> Selectmen- See Ch.37. <br /> ARTICLE I -- Miscellaneous Provisions <br /> History: Adopted as Ch. 1, Article 1.1 of the 1980 Code r <br /> X40-1. Annual Town Meeting and Election. <br /> History: Amended 11-13-1989 STM,Article 30 approved by Attorney General on 2-16-1990. <br /> ` <br /> A. The Town will hold two (2) regularly scheduled Annual Town Meetings. The Spring <br /> Annual Town Meeting will be held the first Monday in May and will address the Annual <br /> Town operating budget. The Fall Annual Town Meeting will be held the third Monday in <br /> October and will address any and all other business to come before the Town Meeting. <br /> History: Amended 10-7-2002 ATM, Article 9, approved by Attorney General <br /> on 11-27-2002 <br /> History: Amended 12-9-2002 STM, Article 9, approve by Attornev General on <br /> 2-19-2003. <br /> R i <br /> B. These meetings will be held at 7:30 p.m. at a place that shall be determined by the <br /> Selectmen. The Selectmen may insert in the warrant for the Annual Town Meetings all <br /> articles and/or petitions signed by ten (10) or more legal voters which shall have been <br /> delivered to the Selectmen or the Town Clerk, or both. <br /> C. Articles for the Spring Annual Town Meeting must be submitted by the second Monday in <br /> February each year. Articles for the Fall Town Meeting must be submitted by the second <br /> Monday in July each year. <br /> _History: Amended 10-7-1996 ATM, Article 33, approved by Attorney General <br /> on 12-9-1996. <br /> D. The Selectmen may insert in said warrant, any article or articles received by them as of said <br /> Monday in February and said Monday in July. All articles will include an explanation <br /> prepared by the party submitting the article. Before calling a special town meeting, the <br /> Selectmen will insert in a local newspaper a notice specifying the last day upon which <br /> articles to be inserted in the warrant for such meeting will be presented to the Selectmen of <br /> the Town Clerk.
