{rL e I I .t o 'E n v i r o n m e n t a I C o n s u l t a n t s
` "!:°INTRODUCTION
} On April 20 ,1987 Lelito Environmental Consultants conducted
% ian
site analysis of Lot #65 Waterline Drive South in Little
:1-!'I ; Neck Bay Mashpee, Massachusetts. The purpose of this analysis
"was to accurately determine the protectable resource areas
r
existing on site and their boundaries.
M'
METHODOLOGY
The site perimeter and interior were traversed on foot.
Observations were made of existing vegetative cover types,
surface water flow and soils . Quadrants and soil sampling
stations were established to help determine the existing
resource areas and their boundaries .
The site determinations were performed using the definitions
and criteria provided in the regulations promulgated under
Massachusetts General Law Chapter 131, Section 40, The
Wetlands Protection Act at 310 CMR 10 . 00 . The Wetlands
Resource Area Boundary determinations were made consistent
with the requirements under Part II of the Regulations at 310
CMR 10. 30 ( 1) , 10 . 32 (2 ) (a) and Part III 10 . 55 (2 ) (a) .
The Department of Environmental Quality Engineering (DEQE) has
adopted the United States Fish and Wildlife Service National
Wetland Inventory (FWSNWI ) as the definitive source for
wetland plant species. This inventory classifies wetland
plants commonly found in this region into six categories.
1. Obligate (OBL) . Always found in wetlands under natural
(not planted) conditions ( frequency grater than 99% ) ,
but may persist in non-wetlands if planted there by
man or in wetlands that have been drained, filled, or
otherwise transformed into non-wetlands .
2 . Facultative Wetland (FACW) . Usually found in wetlands
( 67% - 99% frequency) , but occasionally found in
non-wetlands. 4
3 . Facultative (FAC) . Sometimes found in wetlands ( 34% - z
66% frequency) , but also occurs in non-wetlands .
4 . Facultative Upland (FACU) . Seldom found in wetlands
( 18 - 33% frequency) and usually occurs in
non-wetlands .
5 . Non-wetland (UPL) . Occurs in wetlands in another
i
