Board of Appeals Minutes - April 12, 1989 Page 5. <br />• Curtis - Kerrigan (Cont.) <br />Ms. Hawver read a letter from Deputy Fire Chief George Baker which <br />stated that the access to Lettie Lane is unacceptable. He recommended <br />that Goodspeed Meetinghouse Road be improved. <br />Mr.,Halpern asked Mr. Connolly if they could improve the road. <br />He replied that his clients were willing to improve the road but would <br />not pave it. He stated that they had widened Goodspeed Meetinghouse <br />Road where it meets Lettie Lane. <br />Mr. Makunas questioned the "Y" shape of the road. Mr. Connolly said <br />that the road has two access lanes to Route 130. <br />Mr. Bruno of 310 Main St. said part of the "Y" section has been used <br />for dumping. <br />Mr. Makunas said it would be a benefit if the road was improved. <br />Mr. Connolly replied that his client would grade it and widen it but <br />paving would be punitive. Cost of paving is estimated at $100,000. <br />He said the road shows up on maps dated 1870 but the Town does not <br />acknowledge it as an ancient way. <br />Mr. Bruno stated that Town Planner had planned access to the property <br />as a location for a new high school. <br />Mr. Makunas moved to take the petitions under advisement. There were <br />no seconds. <br />Mr. Makunas moved to deny. There were no seconds. <br />Mr. Makunas withdrew both motions. <br />Mr. Halpern moved to take the petition under advisement. Mr. Makunas <br />seconded. All agreed. <br />Mr. Boyd suggested the Board review the plans with the Town Planner. <br />P.J. O'Connor - (Discussion) <br />Mr. O'Connor had been granted a Special Permit and a Variance to <br />operate a lumber yard in 1986. He had not commenced construction due to <br />economic conditions and asked if he could apply for extensions. <br />Mr. Makunas replied that since both the Special Permit and Variance had <br />expired he should re -apply for a new Special Permit and Variance. <br />.
