i jl Article 2.4 Town 'Counsel Section 2.4. 1 Term of Office . The Selectmen , annually ! in June , shall appoint a Town Counsel to hold office for the term of one year from the first day of July following and until his successor is appointed and qualified. Section 2.4.2 Powers and Duties. He shall act as the legal advisor and solicitor of the Town and as head of the Legal Department , and shall receive such salary or compensation therefor as the Selectmen sha.11 determine . Section 2.4.3 Removal . The Selectmen. shall remove the Town Counsel from office if , in their opinion , the interests of the Town so require and shall fill any vacancy in said ioffice by new appointment . i Section 2.4.4 Accommodations. The Selectmen shall provide suitable space for the Town Counsel , as head of the Legal Department , in the Town Office Building. All books, records and documents, assembled by the Town Counsel in connection with the Town's legal affairs, shall be Kept in files properly indexed in the offices of the Legal Department for convenient reference by the Selectmen and the Town Counsel 's successor in office . Section 2.4.5 Attendance at Town Meeting. The Town Counsel shall attend all Town Meetings and shall , at the request of the Moderator , advise the Meeting on questions of law relating to the subject matter of any article in the warrant and as to the j form of proposed votes or motions or the legality of any particular action proposed to be taken in the meeting. I Section 2.4.6 Advice to Other Boards. Subject to the 1 approval of the Board of Selectmen , all elective or appointive town officers, special or standing committees, boards, or departments, may obtain orally or in writing the advice or opinion of the Town counsel as to any function of their respective offices or on any specific quesiton of law in relation thereto.
