secretary until the executive secretary <br /> shall return and assume his duties. <br /> (b) Vacancy <br /> Any vacancy in the office of executive <br /> secretary shall be filled as soon as <br /> possible by the Board of Selectmen but <br /> endin <br /> P 9 such a ppointment the Board of <br /> Selectmen shall designate a qualified town ti <br /> officer or employee to <br /> P perform the duties <br /> of the executive secretary on an acting <br /> basis. The appointment of an acting � <br /> executive secretary shall be for a term not I <br /> to exceed three months, provided, however , <br /> one renewal , not to "exceed a second three <br /> months may be voted by the Board of <br /> t # <br /> Selectmen . The acting executive secretary <br /> shall be compensated at the same level of j <br /> pay as the executive secretary but in no i <br /> event to exceed the salary of the executive I <br /> secretary. <br /> (c) Powers and Duties I <br /> The powers of a temporary or acting <br /> executive secretary, under (a) of (b) <br /> above , shall be limlited to matters not j <br /> admitting of delay. <br /> Section 2. 15.4 Removal and Suspension <br /> I <br /> a <br /> The executive secretary may be removed by a <br /> majority vote of the Board of Selectmen , s <br /> for a cause , after notice of the <br /> contemplated action has been given at least <br /> seven (7) days prior to the vote . Before <br /> the executive secretary may be removed from <br /> office , if he so demand., he shall be given <br /> a written statement of the reasons alleged <br /> for his removal , and shall have a right to <br /> be heard thereon at a meeting of the' Board <br /> of Selectmen prior to a final vote on the <br /> question of his removal , but pending and <br /> during such hearing the Board of Selectmen <br /> may suspend him from office . The action of <br /> the Board of Selectsmen in suspending or <br /> removing the executive secretary shall be <br /> final , it being the intention of this <br /> provision to vest all authority and to fix <br /> all responsibility for such suspension or <br /> removal solely in the Board of Selectmen . <br /> The executive secretary shall continue to <br /> receive his salary until the effective date <br /> -29- <br />
