i <br /> jl <br /> Article 2.4 Town 'Counsel <br /> Section 2.4. 1 Term of Office . The Selectmen , annually <br /> ! in June , shall appoint a Town Counsel to <br /> hold office for the term of one year from <br /> the first day of July following and until <br /> his successor is appointed and qualified. <br /> Section 2.4.2 Powers and Duties. He shall act as the <br /> legal advisor and solicitor of the Town <br /> and as head of the Legal Department , <br /> and shall receive such salary or <br /> compensation therefor as the Selectmen <br /> sha.11 determine . <br /> Section 2.4.3 Removal . The Selectmen. shall remove the <br /> Town Counsel from office if , in their <br /> opinion , the interests of the Town so <br /> require and shall fill any vacancy in said <br /> ioffice by new appointment . <br /> i <br /> Section 2.4.4 Accommodations. The Selectmen shall <br /> provide suitable space for the Town <br /> Counsel , as head of the Legal Department , <br /> in the Town Office Building. All books, <br /> records and documents, assembled by the <br /> Town Counsel in connection with the Town's <br /> legal affairs, shall be Kept in files <br /> properly indexed in the offices of the <br /> Legal Department for convenient reference <br /> by the Selectmen and the Town Counsel 's <br /> successor in office . <br /> Section 2.4.5 Attendance at Town Meeting. The Town <br /> Counsel shall attend all Town Meetings and <br /> shall , at the request of the Moderator , <br /> advise the Meeting on questions of law <br /> relating to the subject matter of any <br /> article in the warrant and as to the <br /> j form of proposed votes or motions or the <br /> legality of any particular action proposed <br /> to be taken in the meeting. <br /> I <br /> Section 2.4.6 Advice to Other Boards. Subject to the <br /> 1 approval of the Board of Selectmen , all <br /> elective or appointive town officers, <br /> special or standing committees, boards, or <br /> departments, may obtain orally or in <br /> writing the advice or opinion of the Town <br /> counsel as to any function of their <br /> respective offices or on any specific <br /> quesiton of law in relation thereto. <br /> I <br /> -12- <br /> I <br />
