SECTION 10 : SIGNS <br /> 10. Intent <br /> It is the intent of this by-law to protect , <br /> conserve , and improve the visual quality of <br /> the Town of Mashpee while providing reasonable <br /> regulations and control of the erection and <br /> maintenance of signs and advertising devices <br /> without restricting the conduct of lawful <br /> enterprise . <br /> 10 . 1 No sign or advertising devices of any kind or <br /> nature shall be erected on any premises or <br /> affixed to the outside of any structure or be <br /> visible from the outside of any structure in <br /> Mashpee except as permitted by this section . <br /> 10.2 Plans , Specifications and Permits <br /> 10.2 . 1 Owner ' s consent : Before any permit is granted for <br /> the erection of a sign , plans and specifications <br /> shall be filed with the building inspector showing <br /> the dimensions , materials and required details of <br /> construction , including loads , stresses and <br /> anchorage , where required . The application shall <br /> be accompanied by the written consent of the owner <br /> or lessee of the premises upon which the sign is <br /> to be erected . <br /> 10.2 .2 New signs : A new sign shall not hereafter be <br /> erected , constructed , altered o.r maintained <br /> except as herein provided and until after a permit <br /> has been issued by the building inspector, and <br /> the bond , if required , shall have been filed in <br /> accordance with Section 10.8. Signs of over <br /> twenty (20 ) square feet , existing as of the <br /> effective date of this by-law, shall have their <br /> continued use subject to the issuance of a permit <br /> from the building inspector. The deadline for <br /> obtaining such a permit is Sept . 1 , 1985. Any sign <br /> over six (6 ) square feet in a commercial or indust- <br /> rial zoning district , or for a commercial , office <br /> or industrial use in a residential zoning district , <br /> shall require review and comment by the Design Review <br /> Committee prior to the issuance of a permit for said <br /> sign by the Building Inspector. <br /> 10.2 .3 Alterations : A sign shall not be enlarged or <br /> relocated except in conformity to the provisions <br /> of this article for new signs , nor until a proper <br /> permit has been secured . The changing of movable <br /> parts of an approved sign that is designated for <br /> such changes , or the repainting or reposting of <br /> 10 - 1 <br />
